- The online newswire [noodlepie]
"This is a loose diagram of how I work when I'm doing online journalism, tracking news, prioritising, editing, aggregating, contextualising, researching and publishing. It's the basic model of a presentation I'll be giving soon – rest assured, the presentation looks a lot more interesting…"

- File under ‘duh’
This piece on the Dubai real estate crash has been going around lately, and it's kinda like, "DUH." The author, David Galbraith, says "Short of opening a Radio Shack in an Amish town, Dubai is the world’s worst business idea, and there isn’t even any oil. Imagine proposing to build Vegas in a place where sex and drugs and rock and roll are an anathema. This is effectively the proposition that created Dubai—it was a stupid idea before the crash, and now it is dangerous." Apart from its nouveau riche gaudiness, which really does seem fantastic, it has always looked to me like a really boring place to visit.

- New York Minknit » Putting the “and” in Law and Order
"Also, all the extras decided to be Method extras. Like the extra who was walking with me actually said to me, 'So, what’s our backstory? Are we friends? Have we just met? Do we hate each other?' She also told me to walk slower, which I am incapable, as a New Yorker, of doing, but she slowed down (to get more camera time) and got called out by some director about this. (She said, 'Oh, I’m lagging a beat?' I was like, lady, just walk faster.) Another extra refused to talk to us, because she was to busy being 'in character.'"
