365.52: Fifth Avenue Bingo line
by Adam Kuban
As I was walking home from the pharmacy (picking up Mucinex—I’ve got a cold), I saw a bit of a gathering of seniors ahead.
Ah! Fifth Avenue Bingo, of course. They were waiting to get in just before opening.
I’ve actually played bingo here, and it’s pretty fun. Fairly low-stakes.
It would be fun to do a group bingo outing here, but you can’t really talk. People get angry if you get too loud because then they can’t hear the announcer.
I actually come from a line of lucky bingo and lottery players. My aunt and grandmother have won thousands at bingo, and my grandmother once won $100,000 in the lottery.
Funny story: My grandmother would have won the jackpot instead of just $100K, but here’s the deal—she usually plays a set of birthdays. She had apparently filled in her card, given it to the clerk, then realized she filled in one wrong number. So she asked for the clerk to void that ticket and played her actual numbers.
Guess what? Yep. Had she played the mistaken numbers, she would have hit the jackpot. Shows that you should always just go with the flow.
