Moved to WordPress
by Adam Kuban
If you’ve visited this site in the last few weeks, you haven’t had much to look at. First some ugly default Movable Type templates and then probably nothing. Well, I’ve moved over to WordPress for now.
I love MT. It’s what I started blogging with. And the people behind it are great. But with MT4, things just got too complicated. For one, I have no idea how to tweak the stylesheets. There are several nested ones, and to propagate changes in the right places, I have no idea which template to edit. I thought about simply stripping it all down to one very simple CSS file, but then I’d be missing out on a lot of the features built into MT4.
And then I thought about what I needed for this site. I just wanted a very simple introduction page at adamkuban.com. With basic “About” info and links to my resume and to this blog. And I wanted to offer a quick glimpse at my other online incarnations at Flickr, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
I could have done that all with MT, but it involved setting up multiple blogs and “pages,” and then I was still stuck with themes that I wasn’t really happy with. So I poked around on WP, found this NinjaMonkeys adaptation of Hemingway, and boom. I was up and running.
It still doesn’t have everything I want. But it’ll do for now. It looks clean and simple, and until I have time to really delve into customizing a site, it’ll work.
